The New York Andalus Ensemble is directed by Samuel R. Thomas. This 21-piece, community-based large ensemble performs traditional music from Spain and North Africa. CBE will be the Brooklyn debut of this exciting ensemble. A trio of ASEFA members, Samuel Thomas, Yoshie Fruchter, and Eric Platz, will be performing traditional Sephardi songs from Syrian and North Africa. In addition, Samuel will be leading a performance workshop/lecture called "Piyyutim: The Poetics of Prayer," exploring the rich and diverse history of Sephardi piyyutim traditions.
